The Backstory
As the creator of this website, I would like to share the story of how this idea came to be.

It all began on Earth Day when I wanted to go out and explore nature as a way to appreciate the vast commodities of the Earth and all that it provides us with. I told my dad that we should go to a stream to hike and explore wildlife and simply appreciate nature. One thing that has always fascinated me about animals is the uniqueness between all living creatures; how humans share this Earth with unbelievable creatures that do not resemble us in the slightest way, and the unique aspects each creature possesses to enable them to thrive in the most exclusive compasses of the Earth. These ideas fueled my interest in the exploration of the habitat in which I reside. We traveled about 15 minutes from my house to a stream where we went on to catch salamanders and crayfish and observe deer, fish, insects, and a variety of birds. As I returned home, I was struck with the realization of how much I enjoyed being in nature and observing so many different creatures and the habitats in which they live. I was driven to create a way for more people to experience what I had experienced on the trip to the stream, so I thought of a website where people could be given the opportunity to explore the wildlife of their region. I hope this website will spark your desire to explore and appreciate the incredible life forms this world has to offer, as the trip to the stream had sparked for me.
Services
We provide one broad, general mission that covers common animals that live across the United States as well as missions specific to geographic regions that present more of a challenge, as they contain rarer, more diverse species. We hope that you can use the missions to either search for and discover animals or learn which animals live in different geographic regions by simply reading the missions. For all you sports fans out there, we also have special missions dedicated to finding animals popularized by professional sports team mascots. We also have a Mission Competition where different animals correspond to different point values and you can compete against your friends to try to accumulate the most points.

The goal of this website is not only for people to have the ability to explore wildlife, but it is also for people to learn about wildlife. Every so often we will upload a new animal to the "Featured Animals" page, one that we find especially interesting and fun to learn about. It will include pictures of the animal as well as basic facts about it. We hope to educate our audience about animals that you might not have heard of if not for reading our segment.

On this page, you will find the ability to upload your findings from completing a mission. We want everyone to feel accomplished and for their discoveries to feel noticed. Here, you can send a picture of your findings along with your name, the name of the animal, the location, and any fact you would like to include about the particular animal. We would love to see what all of you have found using our resources.

One of the main goals of this website is to educate people about animals. In the resources page, you will find links to different websites and videos that have been approved by our editors where you can learn almost anything about almost any animal. These links will have information about a wide variety of animals, as we hope to expand your animal knowledge.
